Jan 30, Nora rated it did not like it. This book takes the dumbest, most boring, told a gazillion times plot and does nothing even remotely original or even interesting with it. You just want to slap the lead character silly for being so stupid in how she handles the situation. Finder is one of my three favorite authors. I adore his writing. This one was excellent- a one night stand and Judge Juliana Brody is in all sorts of hot water with seemingly no way out.

Turns out though that the bad guys messed with the wrong woman.. I rated the fact that our main protagonist was a normal human being who just happened to have a clever head on her shoulders, who refused to give up even when the odds were stacked against her. Flawed yet steady, scared yet unbowed.

It is a page turner of a read where nothing is guaranteed and the author works in the little twists and turns with pitch perfect, well, Judgement… Overall a fantastic read that I devoured in one sitting.

There were a few problems in their marriage, if she were being honest, that were bigger than that one incident, three years previously. He is in academic trouble at school and is using marijuana via a vape pen. Very soon, none of these problems will matter.

      Interview with William MacNeil

While attending a legal conference she decides to have a few drinks at the hotel bar. This is not a normal act by her she usually stops at one and leads a pretty scheduled life and she prides herself on that. The next day she heads home and decides this was a mistake and she puts the incident behind her. The next day she heads into court on a huge sexual harassment case against a large corporation. This book had it all for me, murder , mystery thriller and I highly recommend it!

Four stars! Smart and so intriguing! Loved it! The attention to detail was fantastic. The author hooked from the start! Highly recommend. Jul 13, Melissa Borsey rated it really liked it. Juliana Brody is a Superior Court Judge who takes her profession very seriously and holds herself to a higher standing because of it, however, one night, after having drank one too many she has what she thinks is a harmless one night stand.

She soon discovers that it was all a set up and the stakes are very high. I thought this was a good, suspenseful read that's a whee bit far fetched yet highly entertaining. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Apr 26, Jeanne rated it really liked it. I've seemed to find a rush of Russian-themed stories lately.

All I'll say about this one is never underestimate the power of a woman, especially a mother! Mildly entertaining, implausible in some cases and playing into the modern Russian politics and financial scandals plaguing the world economy. The Judgement was fast paced and difficult to put down. A great thriller involving a female judge trapped in situation that could ruin her career and family.

The characters are good, my favorite - the private investigator. May 04, Tom Bierdz rated it it was amazing. This time he hits it out of the park. A judge who has always followed the rules and would not do anything to jeopardize her marriage or job, gives in to temptation while at a conference in Chicago and has a one night stand. Soon thereafter, in a sexually abuse work-related case, she is threatened with exposure and a video of that night if she rules against the company.

So sets the stage for a very suspenseful thriller that is near impossible to put down. Highly recommended. I was amazed at both how much I enjoyed this book as well as how incredibly topical it is. It is the story of Judge Juliana Brody, a judicial star whose life was upended by the mistake of sleeping with a stranger. This proves to be the catalyst for the rest of this totally engrossing thriller.

So much like the stories tha I was amazed at both how much I enjoyed this book as well as how incredibly topical it is. So much like the stories that we are now seeing investigated by Robert Mueller. During this ME TOO year, the case in question is one that involves sexual harassment in a company controlled by Russians.

Finder creates a totally enthralling story with a heroine, who is brilliant, cunning and fearless. Of course there are moments when we must strain credulity, but I was so engrossed, I barely noticed these moments. I confess that I could not put this book down. This is simply a terrific read and one which truly resonates at this moment. View 1 comment.

Feb 07, Mark Marcus rated it did not like it. Although I like the writing style of the author, I gave this book one star because the outcome of the storyline is completely unbelievable, not realistic. No one who battles the forces of evil, such as those described in this book, comes out unscathed. I haven't read every book by Joseph Finder, but my favorite is still Paranoia. I hoped Judgment to be as interesting and exiting as this title, but sadly I'm a little disappointed. Judgment is a good read when you like thrillers that are rather predictable.

The main character Juliana having just one glass too many and therefore a little tipsy, falling for this handsome man when she is away from home. The handsome man turning out to be not so handsome on the inside. The trail that leads to big mo I haven't read every book by Joseph Finder, but my favorite is still Paranoia. The trail that leads to big money, big money leading to Russian bad guys. The family trouble As for the writing, I always have a bit of trouble with stories where you meet new characters in every chapter, that you do not encounter later.

Especially because you do not know beforehand whether those characters are going to play an important role or not. So I tend to forget all those names and have to read back later when someone turns up for a second time.

And sometimes I thought: why didn't Juliana call him or her before? Anyway, it is not a bad book, not for me at least. It's just not as good as I hoped it would be but I'm still happy to have read it. Thanks to Netgalley for the digital review copy. Jul 19, Pamela Small rated it liked it.

Regrettably, it fizzled and imploded, resulting in a dud. The characters are flat, one dimensional duds. They are not developed and this reader feels no connection with any of them. There is a great deal of telling, but not showing. The storyline begins with an intriguing complex plot. Too many details including unimportant ones not germane to the story bog down the p JUDGMENT exploded at the start with intense suspense with the promise of a spectacular fireworks display of thrills and chills.

Too many details including unimportant ones not germane to the story bog down the plot, adversely affecting the pacing. Additionally, the intriguing plot becomes a quagmire of complicated details to the point of becoming convoluted and ridiculously far-fetched. Suspension of disbelief can only be effective if it is in the realm of plausibility. Background of the judicial system is very interesting and enlightening and is the saving grace for Judgment.
